Note to readers: several people who I’m assuming work for the New York Times continue to post false and misleading posts suggesting these methods don’t work and then demand the article be taken down. I used to treat this as spam as these were clearly one-off accounts designed to harass and I did not see any value responding to them.

Let me be clear — this article will not be removed. All of these “hacks” work to reveal information that is available to everyone, yet is partially obscured by poorly designed paywalls. They are 100% legal. And more importantly they provide access to “mainstream” news sources to people who cannot afford it.
