it is hard to overcome Medium’s very strong algorithmic decay. The only real two solutions is to drive external traffic to the article or to find some way to promote it. Both take time — but one free service I’d suggest is PenSignal. Signal auto-tweets your articles on repeat to help you share your articles and grow your audience on your schedule. There are more expensive options like buffer but in my experience, the auto-tweeting can help revive an otherwise dead article. I wrote an article about hacking news paywalls, for example, that I thought was really cool and useful but traffic dropped after about one day…undeterred I started auto-tweeting it on Signal. About three weeks later it began picking up views from just a few likes and retweets. Not a silver bullet for all articles, but it may be worth a try!
