Great piece, Luke. I completely agree. In fact I believe it was a comment or highlight you left on one of my articles that made me check out a lot of your stuff :)

Many on here defend the practice of ignoring reader comments but unless you are inundated with comments (which almost no Medium writer is) I would always advise people to respond.
